Welcome to my Interests page.
I am currently living in Wandsworth, London with my long term girfriend Wendy. Wendy, like most of my friends, has been in London since we finished our undergraduate degrees.
I grew up in Worthing, West Sussex where my parents still live. I have one brother, Jon, who is studying for a Ph.D. (something to do with fishes I think) at the University of Essex. I went to school at Worthing High School, and the Worthing Six Form College. I did my undergraduate degree in mathematics at the University of Bristol. I left for a year, thought I wanted to become an actuary, tried it and decided I definitely didn’t. I returned to Bristol to do my Ph.D.
My main interest in life is football. At the moment I am only playing 5-a-side football once a week with work. However, I hope to start playing 11-a-side again soon. In 2003-2004, I played for the Bristol Downs league team, AFC Torpedo. In my younger days, I used to play at quite a high level, captaining my school and district, and representing my County. I also had trials with Norwich City. I am now too old and fat to play at a decent level, but I still refuse to believe that I didn’t “make it”. I am sure the opportunity is right around the corner.
I also like other sports, in particular tennis. I enjoy both playing and watching although I wish I had time to do more. If I can make myself, I go to the gym, but it is not anywhere near as much fun as running after a football.
In the way of music my current favourites are probably Damien Rice and Tom Baxter.
Other than that I enjoy reading, photography and travelling. My most recent trip - on safari in Kenya with Wendy was terrific (see photos page).
